April is National Poetry Month

Poetry was my first love before I discovered romance novels. The first poems I read where almost like romance novels; how do I love thee, let me count the ways. Ah, true love.

This is my first published poem. Heartsong.

My heart yearns to sing.

It refuses to accept

the sorrow you bring.

Darkness, sadness,

pain, and despair.

Emotions you must carry,

that I can never share.

My heart yearns to sing.

To be joyful, to be free.

The wretchedness engulfs you,

taking happiness from me.

My heart yearns to sing,

to shatter your heart’s silence.

My heart yearns to sing,

to break your soul’s penance.

My heart yearns to sing,

with yours.
